Word On Heath provides a highly valued, free editorial service through our weekly radio series (now in its 21st year), via a network of 103 not-for-profit community radio stations, reaching over 6.5 million people every week, supported by our www.wordonhealth.com website and social media presence.
From Stornoway to the Isles of Scilly, every 2.5 minutes, 7 days week, 365 days a year, Word On Health radio reports are aired somewhere across the UK. Our mission is to promote good health.
Alongside promoting important health issues such as the impact of better lifestyle choices for the good of our overall well-being, mental health awareness, vaccination and screening programmes together with the ways and means to reduce communicable disease, we’ve also been able to provide coverage on conditions and diseases that wouldn't have otherwise achieved editorial broadcast ‘air-time’ without our coverage including: Blood Cancers, Autism, Cardiac Risk In The Young, Meniere's, Hypoparathyroidism, Depression, Lupus, Tourettes, Dyspraxia, Ovarian Cancer, Fibromyalgia, Hearing Loss, Parkinson's, Raynauds, Spina Bifida, Glaucoma, Cystic Fibrosis, Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, COPD, Testicular Cancer, Dystonia, Coeliac Disease, Epilepsy, PSP and Endometriosis to name but a few.
But there is a problem
The network of professionally ran independent, volunteer-led, community radio stations who broadcast our radio series, although brilliantly supported by people in their area, don’t possess the funding or resources to produce the content we freely provide each week.
Although our content is made possible thanks to the generosity of a small team of media professionals who donate their time, there are overheads associated with producing our series, social media and web presence – such as rent, electricity, heat, telephone, broadband and equipment maintenance that need to be met. With no money available to us from the public purse, we've launched this crowdfunding campaign to raise the money to allow us to continue and expand our service to the ever growing number of community radio stations across the UK.
How you can help
In addition to gratefully accepting donations, we are offering our skills and experience as media trainers/corporate coaches (references available), voice over artists as well as our TV, radio production expertise and studio time in return for financial support. We'll acknowledge your support via our www.wordonhealth.com website and for corporate benefactors buying one of our perk packages we will provide an 'on-air' credit at the end of one of our radio reports and social media push.
Thank you, in advance, for your help.
