Record rescue result for FY20
What an amazing a few months we have all been through. When the Coronavirus darkened our doorstep in early March, none of us had any idea what would happen next.
But what happened next for us was an explosion of love and support for our Home and our dogs and we have just experienced one of our busiest times in recent memory. The minute restrictions were announced, and people were asked to work from home, our phones and email ran hot with people wanting to adopt or foster a dog.
March turned into our biggest month on record in more than 25 years – 154 dogs were adopted! A record 72 dogs spent time in foster, and we processed more adoption and foster applications than ever before!
By 30 June 2020 the Dogs' Refuge Home will have found new homes for over 1400 dogs - it's our biggest year for decades but it's not over yet.
More dogs coming in
Sadly, the phones are now ringing daily with people asking to surrender their dogs as the economic reality of job losses start to bite. Pounds both local and in regional areas are starting to fill up again with abandoned dogs desperate for a second chance.
We are also hitting the highway and doing regular trips north to Geraldton and south to Bunbury - almost 400 dogs have been rescued from regional pounds over the last 12 months and found refuge in our shelter and with foster families until their new forever home can be found.
Please help with our work
We understand times are tough and we really hope you will be in a position to support us with a donation to our Winter 2020 Appeal. All amounts great or small make a difference in providing vital care for dogs who are unclaimed, given up or simply unwanted.
Your kind gift will continue to fund our rescue and re-homing work around Perth and WA over the next 12 months.
