A little bit of context
Our MUSLSA team has been hard at work over the summer researching our annual charity project. This year, we have decided to do something extra special as 2018 marks our thirtieth anniversary. We are super excited to finally launch, 'The New Chapter Project'; an initiative dedicated to the rebuilding, refurbishing and stocking of St Mary's Primary School's library, in Wennappuwa, Sri Lanka.
For the students of St Mary's Primary school, their desire to learn is unfortunately hampered by a lack of educational resources made available to them. The books currently held in their library are limited and no proper library system is in place. In addition to this, the students are often discouraged from entering their library due to concerns for their safety, as the building itself is in a state of disrepair.
Here’s what we’re doing about it
Our project will, therefore, involve the repair of the building (replacing broken windows, repairing the roof, repainting etc.), providing students with furniture (including shelves and desks), establishing a library system which will encourage students to read and, of course, filling the library with some wonderful books!
We hope to, therefore, create a safe space for the children, where they can learn, grow and develop a love of reading.
You can join us
This is where we need your help in supporting MUSLSA in enriching the learning and development of students at St Mary's. A huge thank you is in order for those who have sponsored MUSLSA thus far in our endeavours but there is still a long way to go in making our vision a reality.
And here are some amazing perks for supporting us that you can’t live without
In supporting us, this will make a lasting difference to those students at St Mary's and with that, comes the warm and fuzzy feeling that we all receive when we do good :)
