The Infants’ Home is an award winning* provider of early childhood education, care and health support services for children and families in Sydney’s Inner West, including those experiencing vulnerabilities and with additional needs.
We run four free, high quality Community Playgroups as part of our services for children and families.
Our Playgroups provide children with play-based learning programs, delivered by qualified early childhood educators, which are underpinned by the Australian Early Years Learning Framework. Parents can also access parenting and child development information, advice and referrals from our team of social workers, occupational therapists and speech therapists who regularly attend playgroup sessions.
Our playgroups are attended by over 700 children and family members a year, and demand is growing.
Our quest for a new van and equipment
To transport staff and equipment to and from playgroups in parks and school halls, we needed a new van. Our playgroups van was old, small, inefficient to run and seated only two people, although three staff often need to attend playgroups.
Last year, The Infants’ Home partnered with Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney, whose entire team of staff worked tirelessly to raise funds for a new playgroup vehicle. The Australian Hotels Association also made a generous contribution to help make purchase of a new van possible.
Now that we have a beautiful new van with space to fit three staff and lots of resources, we desperately need to replace our current playgroup equipment, which is well-worn and well-loved.
New educational resources and more play equipment will help continue to grow and strengthen our popular Community Playgroups program.
You can join us: please support the plan to fill our van!
Please donate to help us raise $10,000 for a range of new resources to benefit children and families attending our Community Playgroups.
These include sensory balls and puzzles to help children's hand eye coordination; wooden farm and kitchen sets so children can engage in imaginary play and develop their language and social skills; painting materials to support children's creative expression, as well as larger equipment to support the development of balance and gross motor skills. Of course, we also need books, which are still the number one way to support the development of language and vocabulary.
Every donation helps, be it $5 or $500.
The Infants' Home is a registered charity. Donations of $2 and over are tax deductible and you will be isssued with a tax receipt by Chuffed.
