Team Blue Datto
We are a kayaking team that have entered the Massive Murray Paddle which will take place from 20 - 24 November 2017. The Massive Murray Paddle is a paddling race which covers 404km’s of the Murray River over 5 days, yes that's 404km's!!! The race starts in Yarrawonga and finishes in Swan Hill.
Our team consists of Katrina and Peter Croquett, Colleen and Joe Vassallo, Suzy and Tully Murphy, Julie Peacock, Danielle and William Mizzi.
As a condition of entry to this race we must align ourselves with a cause close to our hearts and fundraise and / or donate our time, to help the cause where it’s needed most. Our team will be supporting the Blue Datto Foundation.
Since beginning our fundraising journey, we have had the privilege of meeting Phil's parents and founders of the Blue Datto Foundation, Colleen and Joe Vassallo. Colleen and Joe will be joining us on Day 5 of the Massive Murray Paddle, paddling from Murrabit to Swan Hill covering a distance of 77 kilometres.
Team Blue Datto is deeply committed to raising money to help educate young drivers. We have personally been impacted by the loss of a loved one when our close family friends lost their 18 year old son, Joel Murphy, in a road crash in the Hawkesbury area in September of 2015.
Joel's mum, Suzy, and younger brother, Tully, have joined Team Blue Datto and will be paddling the full 5 days with us in the Massive Murray Paddle, we are absolutely stoked to have them on board! Furthermore, both Suzy and Tully will be assisting us with the fundraising for the Blue Datto Trivia Night as well.
Blue Datto Foundation
The Blue Datto Foundation was established following the tragic death of 17-year-old Philip Vassallo, who was affectionately known as ‘the kid in the Blue Datto.’ Philip lost his life in a crash in which both drivers were red ‘P’ platers. Tragically, stories like Philip’s are not uncommon in the Hawkesbury/Nepean areas and Greater Western Sydney, with more and more young lives being lost on our roads each year.

The Blue Datto Trivia Night & General Fundraising
We are hosting the Blue Datto Trivia Night on 1 July 2017 at Windsor RSL and would love for you all to come. We are aiming to raise money through ticket sales, silent auctions, raffles and other fun games to be held on the night. Ticket sales are limited so get in quick to secure your seat or table!
We would also like to run a general fundraising campaign until the commencement of the Massive Murray Paddle which starts on 20 November 2017.
All funds raised will go directly to the Blue Datto Foundation.
You can join us in making a difference!
We are aiming to raise a whopping $24,000!
These funds will go towards helping the Blue Datto Foundation achieve their goal of providing all NSW Year 10 students with the opportunity to undertake their peer based and behavioural driver education program, Keeping Safe™, by 2020.
And here’s where the funds will be invested!
Blue Datto’s mission is to change the culture of young drivers by altering attitudes and behaviours. They do this by providing an industry-leading Keeping Safe™ program to Year 10 students. This starts road safety conversations with young Australians, their families and peers at home, school, in their community and across social media. This program is delivered FREE to participants.
Sponsorship amounts are as follows:
$20 = 1 x Year 10 student participating in the Keeping Safe™ Program;
$100 = 5 x Year 10 students participating in the Keeping Safe™ Program;
$500 = 1 x Year 10 class participating in the Keeping Safe™ Program;
$2000 = 1 x Year 10 school group participating in the Keeping Safe™ Program.
