The displacement of Syrians is one of the greatest humanitarian crisis’s of our time. Thousands have been killed and millions have undergone epic, unimaginable journeys to seek refuge in a new land.
After escaping the horrors that is occuring in their homeland, many displaced Syrians are in limbo. They have entered a country with little understanding of the culture and also no plan with how they will essentially support their new lives in a foreign land.
Here’s what we’re doing about it
Small Projects for Istanbul (SPI) is a non-for-profit organization that is helping displaced Syrian Refugees rebuild their lives in Turkey.
SPI is run by local and international volunteers (including Australians) with the organization supported by the Intrepid Travel Group 'In Focus Project' that helps social projects. SPI runs programmes in is centre in the Capa District of Istanbul that helps to educate young children to intergrate within the Turkish schooling system and encourages adult Syrians to become business managers through the women's craft collective - producing earrings aptly named 'Drop Earrings not Bombs.'
I was honoured to take part in visiting the centre on behalf of Urban Adventures (Intrepid Travel group) for an assignment to spread the word about the services that SPI offers for Syrian citizens to enchance their future prospects of a life in Turkey.
You can help support displaced Syrian citizens rebuild their lives...

And here’s some amazing perks for supporting us (just a thank you from us)
Urban Adventures is a key partner in this event and they have donated complimentary passes for their worldwide tours to be won.
Two Feet and a Heart Beat has also kindly donated some prizes to be won on the night so get your thinking caps on!
Most importantly, coming along to this event is helping the lives of many displaced Syrian citizens who are slowly rebuilding their lives in Turkey. We may be a world away from the horrors but there are many people in our local Perth community who have been affected by the war.
This event will help support those who have been lucky to escape the war and help rebuild their lives through education and workshop initiatives at Small Projects for Istanbul.
On behalf of Small Projects for Istanbul, Urban Adventures and myself, I would like to thank you for your support and to help make a change in the world.
