"At a time like this, it’s important to let my friends and the wider African community know that this support exists and our health matters. "
- Sampa The Great

With the launch of Sampa the Great’s “Time's Up” video clip, we wanted to shed a light on the struggles that young African people are experiencing and raise funds to make sure there is no barrier to receiving the support and care they need.

Socio-economic factors should not limit anyone’s access to appropriate mental health therapy, but unfortunately that’s the case for many young African people.

It’s often hard for African youth to afford the care they need or to find the appropriate mental health professionals who can practice in a culturally responsive way. So we’re partnering to reduce some of these hurdles.

Pola Psychology was established by Nasalifya Namwinga in response to a need for culturally responsive therapy, allowing clients a safe space to explore their individual experience within the socio-political context in which they live.

We hope to cover the therapy costs for a number of African youth with a recommended therapist or one of their choosing for at least a year. Each therapy session will cost an average of $100.00. The number of recipients will be dependant on funds raised.
