LGBTIQ Youth Need Your Support
LGBTIQ youth in Australia still experience some of the highest rates of bullying of any demographic, and the most common place this occurs is at school.
Still in 2017, young people are being told they can't attend their high school formal with a same sex partner, and even more are made to feel comfortable for wearing clothes that align with their gender identity.
The Queer Formal
That's where the Queer Formal comes in! We host a night for more than 500 LGBTIQ youth to attend a sit down dinner, watch live music artists, listen to inspiring speeches, and dance the night away.
For 2018, our goal is to create a night where every single young person can attend for free.
And for the first time ever - we're introducing the Queer Formal to 500 young people in Sydney!
How It Works
For less than a night out for 2 at the movies, you can cover the costs for a young person to attend the Queer Formal for free.
- Every $50 donated = 1 LGBTIQ young person attends the formal for free.
For every $25,000 raised, we’ll run another Queer Formal around Australia for 500 young people.
- First $25,000 = Melbourne, April 2018
- Next $25,000 = Sydney, July 2018
- Next $25,000 = Adelaide, September 2018
The Best Thing?
The Queer Formal makes ongoing community change; for every Queer Formal we run, we produce education packs for schools all over Australia, giving them the tools they need to ensure their own school formals are LGBTIQ inclusive.
Hopefully one day we won't need to run the Queer Formal - but in the meantime, LGBTIQ youth need your help.
