In memory of our dear friend...
We are writing on behalf of several musical friends of Mark Clemens to invite you to help us raise a little money to cover some of the costs of completing the production of a CD of Mark’s instrumental pieces. Mark chose the name kunanyi for this CD.
Motor Neurone Disease
When Mark became aware of his Motor Neurone Disease last year, he was keen to go into the studio to record several new pieces of work before he lost the capacity to play them. Mark recorded four works – all of which are beautiful.
Here’s what we’re doing about it
Around the time of publication of his book, The Mountain, Mark recorded several other pieces. Along with his composition Listen to the Birds (on John Coleman's 'Shade Tree Place' album) we certainly have enough material to produce an album of Mark’s work.
John Britcliffe who was Mark's percussionist has overlaid drums on several pieces and Emily Wolfe added some exquisite violin to Listen to the Birds. Al has lent his expertise and time - many, many studio hours – for only a tiny amount of remuneration.
And here’s how you can help
Would you be interested in making a contribution towards financing the final mastering and duplication costs of a limited run CD?
Our vision is to produce a run of 200 CDs. Any excess money raised from donations, CD sales and the fundraising concert/launch will go to Mark’s family.
Any donation, however small, will help and all donations will be receipted.
