A little bit of context
You may remember a few years ago that funding was stopped for Christmas lights in our village. Sale Moor was in darkness in 2015, but in 2016, with the help of some amazing supporters, we raised enough money to rent some lights and hosted a massive switch on with celebrity guest Dianne Oxberry. We want to raise funds again....
But there’s a problem
Renting the lights each year is costly and there's nothing to show at the end other than memories of festive spirit. We decided it would be a more prudent use of the community's generosity to purchase our own lights as an investment for future years. This will cost a lot of money, but we can purchase more, year on year, by crowdfunding.
Here’s what we’re doing about it
We are raising funds from the local community and traders to help pay for the installation and maintenance of some festive lights around the village.
You can join us
The target we've set is small but achievable, BUT we would like to smash this target to purchase more and really light up our village and make Sale Moor sparkle once again!
£900 will pay for installing and insuring our existing set of lights
***UPDATE: WE'VE REACHED THIS TARGET! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATED. WE ARE NOW TRYING TO RAISE AN ADDITIONAL £750 TO INSTALL FAIRY LIGHTS IN TREES.***
£1650 will enable us to install our lights and light up trees in the village
Anything over this amount will enable us to achieve the above and also purchase additional lights!
If you would prefer to donate offline, from October onwards there will be donation buckets in several of the village shops.
