What's the big deal?

We can no longer shy away from the huge changes occurring on this planet, with regular weather impacts seen on the news and stark figures & predictions from international scientists in the latest IPCC report.

What am I doing?

I am honoured to have been selected as one of 100 women from around the world taking part in Homeward Bound 2019 (#HB4), and one of only 2 participants based in Ireland.

Homeward Bound is a 12-month program to foster scientific and strategic leadership for women in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths, Medicine). It culminates in a 3 week expedition to Antarctica in November 2019. The mission of HB is to equip a 1000-strong global collaboration of women with a STEMM background to lead & inspire, and influence decision-making.

I've already learned so much over the last 10 months and am excited to continue this journey of personal development alongside this network of amazing women.

Why?

Only by raising awareness with others on a local AND global level, by engaging and empowering others to act urgently can we really make big changes happen. By providing this whole HB team with greater leadership skills, improved scientific knowledge and a strong network, we can impact policy and decision-making all over the world for a sustainable future.

Join me on this journey

Approximately half of the fees are is sponsored by the program partner, but each participant must also contribute fees to Homeward Bound to cover the 12 months of training & mentoring, plus the final trip to Antarctica. Full breakdown of costs can be found here.

This is where I need YOUR help!

I will be paying flights, carbon offset, travel insurance & equipment myself, but am looking for your support to try and raise the programme fees of €15,000.

I have already made many changes to reduce my impact on planet Earth in recent years but there are so many ways I can do more. For me it's so important to practice what you preach. So I will fund tree-planting programmes and also make a big eco pledge for 2020 in return for contributions.

Make a donation to vote what I should do!

  • Going Veggie
  • No Flights
  • Tree-planting
  • No Car
  • No Plastic

What do you think is most important? Or what would you like to see me challenge myself doing for a full year?? You can donate & vote as many times as you want.

If all 5 options are fully funded I WILL DO ALL OF THEM for 2020! Yep.

If you are not in a position to contribute financially, please also consider spreading the word about this campaign with friends, family & colleagues. Thank you for your support!
