For 11 years now Barrier Breakers has been helping those with mental illness and their families and carers.
We work to make the public aware of mental health issues and the impact they can have upon individuals and those around them, as well as the broader community. We strive to encourage governments at all levels to put more resources into the mental health sector. And when someone with a mental illness, like Joe in the video above, encounters a crisis that is too daunting for him/her to handle alone, we step in to help bring about a good outcome.
But there’s a problem
Well, actually several problems. We don't have enough computers for our volunteers. We need to upgrade our web site to a new server. And we recently had a security challenge that means we need to buy personal alarms for our volunteers.
So, what can we do?
All these problems are easily solved, but we need the money to do it. We can buy the computers and alarms, and we can upgrade the web site, but the budget will only stretch so far.
You can help us
In this campaign we are aiming for $3000 - not a huge amount, but it will enable us to buy 2 new computers, pay for a new web hosting package and buy personal alarms to protect our volunteers. This in turn will enable us to be more effective in delivering our services to those with mental illness and those who care for them.
You can help in two ways. Firstly, by donating yourself. Whether it is $1 or $100, or anything in between (or more) it will be gratefully received. Secondly, by helping promote our campaign through your social media and real-world contacts.
