The Hopkins High School Nordic Team
The Hopkins High School Nordic Ski Team is a community -- a fun and diverse community made up of more than 100 student athletes, all of whom love being outdoors, cross-country skiing together, and enjoying the Minnesota landscape blanketed in snow. Check us out at www.hopkinsnordic.com.
Skiing is a sport in which everyone on the team can play, participate, and compete, regardless of their years of experience or skill level. Hopkins' Nordic Team promotes health, teaming, and the enjoyment of our winter surroundings. We welcome everyone and want to ensure that any Hopkins student who wishes to ski has that opportunity.
Making Skiing Available to Everyone
We work hard to limit the barriers to entry. Unlike many sports, where an athlete can walk from class to the gym or step outside onto a field, there are no practice facilities for Nordic skiing at Hopkins High School. Our skiers must be bussed to and from surrounding parks and ski areas. The school district pays only part of this cost. The Hopkins Nordic Ski Team Boosters Club raises money through events like this to ensure that our skiers have safe and reliable transportation; that first-year skiers can rent skis from the program at a minimal charge; that our skiers have food at meets; and that they have great instruction and coaching -- all while keeping student paid fees and costs as low as possible.
The team captains have planned this ski-a-thon to promote fun and teaming among the athletes and help meet the team's financial needs. On December 7, 2018, our skiers will ski 40 kilometers (varsity), 20 kilometers (junior varsity), and 10 kilometers (junior high).
Thank you for your support! It's easy. Pledge a certain amount per kilometer or a lump sum, just enter your pledge here. If you're sponsoring a particular skier, please type that skier's name in the Notes Box. Don't have a particular skier to support? Type "Team" in the Notes Box. Would you rather write a check or give cash? That's great, too. Just provide your check or cash to your student skier or send it to Kim Hunwardsen and 6517 Cherokee Trail West, Eden Prairie, MN 55344.
Again, Thank You!
