The Vision

To bring a moment of dignity into the lives of those struggling with the challenges of homelessness and income inequality, and to put faces to people on both sides of the socioeconomic divide, so they can share a meal together and hopefully share connections that will bring them back to the table of community, compassion, support, and of giving and receiving in the future.

The Event

We're inviting the inhabitants of several homeless encampments around the City of San Jose to join us for a Thanksgiving banquet at Forager Tasting Room & Eatery (http://www.sjforager.com) in Downtown San Jose. In addition, we are inviting other members of the community who are struggling with the impact of income inequality in the Bay Area, as well as civic leaders, non-profit organizations, and agencies that work to support those populations.

If you'd like to join us at the event and share your thoughts on possible solutions or improvements in the way we address those issues, please RSVP here: https://givingthanks.typeform.com/to/u5v7z8

There is no cost to attend, but donations are welcome to help cover costs.

The Conversation

We're hoping to open hearts and minds on both sides, so that the people in need can share authentic conversations with the people who are working to help them, allowing voices and concerns to be communicated towards greater mutual understanding and a path towards fostering greater change.

The Needs

We're looking for donations to fill care packages that we'll be providing to the attendees, food to complete the meal, volunteers to help make it an amazing event, and funds to cover the expenses incurred by the various organizations helping to make this event possible.

The Payoff

Whether it's through a donation of clothing, toiletries, food, money, or your time, we hope you'll give as you're able to support this event, and the movement of change we're hoping to inspire. While this is just one meal, we hope it will create many more opportunities for us to come together as a community to share more meals and more conversations, out of which we hope to find new solutions to address the challenges that face us.
