Update 8 December 2014

WE DID IT! THANK YOU to all our supporters and donors (you know who you are). Thank you to every single one of you who donated, shared our campaign on social media, talked about our campaign to family and friends, shook a tin, had a coffee, approached a business, donated your time, ran a stall at the Angove Street Festival. Every single one of you did this.

A community playground is a great legacy – you should be proud.

DON'T GO… if you haven't donated yet, now is the time to do it. We still have a few costs relating to the installation of the Free Climb Dome that need to be met so a bit more cash is really needed.

All funds over our target will go toward installation and landscaping, to get the Climbing Dome ready in time for the new school year.

As you can imagine this project has no spare cash, so if you are inclined to help out we could still really use the support.

Plus, there are still Pavers and Opening Night tickets up for grabs. Not to mention that we have a few gym memberships to give away that will go to 2 random donors.

So please get onto it - be a part of the history we are making.

Thanks again from the Free Climb Kids team at North Perth Primary School P&C

Update November 22

CONGRATULATIONS NORTH PERTH - $40,000 raised!

Our Free-Climbing Dome crowdfunding campaign reached its target of $40,000 with 17 days to spare! What a huge success for our school!Thank you to EVERYONE who helped our community get this done – by donating, and in so many other ways. You know who you are.A community playground is a great legacy – you should be very proud.

The Explorer Dome is ON ORDER - and all approvals and plans for site works and installation are underway to give us the best possible chance of having our Free-Climbing Dome in the ground for the start of Term 1, 2015. What an asset it's going to be for the children of North Perth...

The 60 day campaign doesn't officially close until Friday December 12, which presents us with an opportunity to raise additional funds for the many associated costs, such as site works, moving the existing equipment and the shade for the dome that so many of you have told us you want. This project has no spare cash, and we could really use the support.

So if you haven't had a chance to donate, it's not too late! There are commemorative pavers and tickets to the North Perth Dome Opening Ceremony still available.

CAMPAIGN NEWS & UPDATE October 30

We have just received a $10,000 donation from the North Perth Primary School P&C! This money was raised through the hard work and dedication of the entire school community and the generous donations of the wider community at this year's Angove Street Festival. The outstanding result reflects the positive endorsement from the community of our school's efforts to build a community access free-climbing dome.

We've had 20 donations of $500, and the average donation is $170. These personal contributions speak volumes about the commitment of our school community to this campaign.

We are incredibly humbled by the generosity of our donors – no matter how big or small - every dollar is helping us to help our kids climb-free. Thank you.

OUR STORY

North Perth Primary School desperately needs more play equipment. So the P&C set out to find a solution. During our research we learned that imaginative physical play is proven to help children's development: socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. We found the perfect solution in the Explorer Dome - a multi-layered net structure developed in Germany - designed to provide unlimited opportunities for challenging, imaginative play.

We have the perfect place for it on the school oval, where our kids can enjoy the active play that we know helps build strong bodies, minds and hearts. And in that lovely grassy spot, all the children and families in the community can enjoy it after school and on weekends. It's perfect.

But large free-climbing domes that'll last a lifetime don't come cheap. The Explorer Dome will cost around $85,000. We've been working hard to raise the money for over a year now. The P&C has raised $25,000, the school has committed $10,000 and the City of Vincent has generously donated $10,000.

We just need the final $40,000 to make it happen. That's around $88 for every student the school. To help move the burden from just the immediate families, and to make it more likely that we can reach this big goal, we're crowd-funding to engage a wider circle. We're reaching out to you for help.

We ask you please to share the campaign around. Show it to your extended family and friends; send them the link. If you use social media, share it and like it. Let's send it viral and show what a passionate and committed community we have in North Perth! It's a cool little video made entirely by school parents and starring school students - and it tells our story well.

If you're moved by our video, by what we're trying to do for our kids and our community, we ask you to donate.

Help us to help our kids. Because free-climb kids are better balanced.
