*** Update: We've reached our initial goal of $25,000 so we've set a new goal of $35,000 – can you help us get there? Unfortunately additional donations over $25,000 won't be matched, but every dollar you donate will help the Australian Marine Conservation Society put an end to the plastic crisis! ***

Did you know that every 30 seconds an ocean animal is killed by plastic?

A solution is on the table - ready to save lives. Finally, we can stop whales, dolphins and seabirds from choking to death with stomachs full of plastic.

But the solutions to this crisis are opposed by big corporations who don’t care about the devastation their plastic causes. We cannot let them win.

Right now, the Australian Parliament is considering joining the UK, India and European Union by banning the most dangerous single-use plastics. This would save millions of lives. It would massively reduce the plastic flowing into our oceans. But big corporations have killed solutions like these before - and we know they won’t go down without a fight.

There are many corporations profiting from plastic that don’t want to give it up. Just weeks ago, a ban on single-use plastics was defeated by industry lobbyists in California. Plastics addicted corporations have been allowed to put their profits before wildlife and our health for too long.

That's why EthicalJobs.com.au is partnering with the Australian Marine Conservation Society to save our precious marine life from the devastating effects of plastic pollution.

Until 30 November 2019, EthicalJobs.com.au will match, dollar for dollar, every donation made to the Australian Marine Conservation Society through this page, up to $25,000!

Why donate?

The Australian Marine Conservation Society is the voice for Australia's oceans.

AMCS are Australia’s only national charity dedicated solely to protecting our precious ocean wildlife – a community of ocean lovers across the nation working for healthy seas.

They work on the big issues that risk our ocean wildlife. They have protected critical ocean ecosystems with marine reserves around the nation, including Ningaloo Reef and the Great Barrier Reef. They have led the movement to ban whaling, stopped supertrawlers, and protected threatened and endangered species like the Australian Sea Lion.

When whales and turtles are washing up dead with their stomachs full of plastic, it’s shockingly clear - we can’t turn a blind eye to this crisis any longer.

According to statistics published by UNESCO, over 1 MILLION seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals die every year - killed by plastic pollution. That means in the 30 seconds it took you to read this, plastic killed another dolphin, turtle or seabird.

That’s more than 3,000 pointless deaths, caused by unnecessary plastic, every single day.

It’s sickening. Turtles and sea lions choking to death on our waste. Whales and seabirds with stomachs full of plastic. Our most threatened marine life has had a gutful - they can’t swallow our plastic pollution any more.

What impact will your donation have?

There has never been a better chance to end this crisis. Your donation will fund an immediate life saving campaign to ban deadly plastics, including:

  • Commissioning expert advice for law-makers on how to effectively phase out single-use plastics, ensuring the laws are powerful and effective.
  • Exposing the truth by broadcasting the real footage of shocking plastics deaths. With an Australian-wide tour we will drown out the arguments of plastics addicted corporations.
  • Pushing for an Australia-wide container deposit scheme to increase recycling on a large scale.
  • Creating powerful local action networks in partnership with local councils to clean up plastic and save lives all over Australia.

All donations are 100% tax-deductible.

PLUS all donations up to $25,000 will be matched, dollar for dollar by EthicalJobs.com.au!
