A little bit of context
Enpsychedelia began broadcasting weekly on 3CR in mid-2015 and has been on the air since. Show producers and hosts Nick and Ash have been there since the beginning, with a huge variety of local and international guests and co-hosts joining the program along the way. Enpsychedelia has developed and grown into a platform for the voice of people who use drugs, their allies and those who believe that prohibition causes more problems than it solves.
We have followed the big issues in drug policy: Sniffer dogs, roadside drug testing, medical cannabis, recreational cannabis, pill testing, psychedelic science, the medically supervised injecting room and non-discriminatory health promotion information and botanical information. We've worked with and regularly broadcast the voices of:
- Australian Drug Foundation (ADF)
- Australian Psychedelic Society
- DanceWize (HRVic)
- Drug Policy Australia
- Entheogenesis Australis (EGA)
- Family Drug Support
- Fitzroy Legal Service
- Free Cannabis Victoria
- Harm Reduction Australia
- Harm Reduction Victoria (HRVic)
- High Alert
- New South Wales Users and AIDS Association (NUAA)
- Nimbin HEMP Embassy
- Psychedelic Research In Science and Medicine (PRISM)
- Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) Australia
- The Australian Injecting and Drug Users League (AIVL)
- Victoria Street Drug Solutions Group
- Yarra Drug & Health Forum (YDHF)
- and many more...
But we haven’t just been along for the ride we have been participants in the calls for reform.
During the time the show has been running Ash helped found Students for Sensible Drug Policy Australia and was one of the key organisers of the successful High Alert campaign against sniffer dogs in night districts.
Nick helped found the Australian Psychedelic Society and has worked behind the scenes with several organisations to help with support, advice and event management. We are activists and organisers as well as broadcasters.
But there’s a problem
Fighting so hard for the cause can be challenging though. We have thrown everything we have into the movement and the show. Sometimes more than we have. It's a lot of work to put together a radio show every week for three years.
3CR is an amazing radio station hosting many marginalised voices and highlighting important causes and the only money we have raised so far has gone to supporting the station to continue broadcasting radical radio. Often we are throwing together the show with equipment that is barely up to the task and we collect huge amounts of content that never makes it to broadcast.
Our resource constraints prevent us from bringing you even more content from the grass roots and around the world.
Here’s what we’re doing about it
We've got a plan.
We have been working hard over the last couple of months to get the podcasts uploaded weekly and share them around so that people can find that consistent voice that is of, by, and for the drug law reform movement.
Our next step is to raise funds to upgrade our equipment, update our website and refine our plan for 2019.
2019 will see Enpsychedelia launch with a new sound, more extra content, a regular blog and more video content.
We will also bring on board more content producers from the movement and bring a greater diversity of voices on air.
With our ties to the activist community we can help more people keep up to date on campaigns and find meaningful ways to join the movement.
You can join us
We are raising $3000 to upgrade our equipment and website and streamline the production of the show. There is so much more that we want to do and you can help us make that a reality.
We are asking our listeners and supporters to contribute what they can to our financial goals but also to share our campaign among their networks and communities. Strong and supportive communities are the best solution to problems of addiction and strong and supportive activist communities are the best path to get there.
In silence we suffer but when we raise our voices together we are strong.
Help us to continue bringing together the voices for reform.
And here’s some amazing perks for supporting us that you can’t live without
The greatest reward we can offer is our commitment to continue bringing you the best, most up to date, informed and most grass-rootsy content.
We've also got some incentives listed.
