Be a Part of My Journey
I have been selected amongst 95 women from across the globe to take part in Homeward Bound #4, an intensive 12-month leadership program for women in science set against the backdrop of Antarctica.
Please help support this international collaborative movement working to enhance the impact of women in science and to address global environmental change. While much of the program investment per person is subsidised by in-kind donations, each participant must cover approximately AU$25,000 of costs. All contributions, no matter how small, are greatly appreciated.

What is Homeward Bound?
Homeward Bound is an innovative global leadership initiative for women in science. The vision, over the next decade, is to equip a 1000-strong global collaboration of women with a science background to lead, influence and contribute to policy and decision-making as it informs the future of our planet. This 12-month program develops leadership, communication, visibility and strategic capabilities and culminates in an intensive three-week leadership expedition to Antarctica leaving from Ushuaia, Argentina.

Tackling Tough Issues Together
Equipped with leadership skills fostered through our participation in Homeward Bound, this global network of women in science aims to tackle two pressing issues:
Science touches every part of our present world — and will shape every part of our future. Yet, globally, women hold less than 25% of executive roles in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine) despite their recognised ability to effectively collaborate, be inclusive, share a legacy mindset and care for shared resources. It's time for us to nurture female leadership potential and address barriers to gender equity to ensure the world benefits from some of the best and brightest minds we have.
Global Environmental Change
Humans have had a significant impact on Earth's climate and the environment on which all species depend. In this critical and decisive time for our planet, it is more crucial than ever to have women at the leadership table to seek sustainable solutions to mitigate the effects of global environmental change. Together, Homeward Bound participants will make the most of this opportunity to gain leadership skills and become influencers in the sustainability and climate action dialogue.
Awe-inspiringly beautiful, remote and wild, Antarctica has captured the imagination of many leaders and explorers in the past. It's also one of the most vulnerable and rapidly changing regions of our planet — a sentinel for global environmental change.
Antarctica is also a physical manifestation of the fundamental principles and aims of Homeward Bound. It is governed by cooperation; the isolated environment necessitates both leadership and teamwork for survival; and its natural resources remain largely unexploited. By taking this journey to Antarctica together, we envision our shared experience will create strong bonds, inspire action and lead to extraordinary collaborations.
What Your Donation Will Support
My participation in Homeward Bound will be an experience of a lifetime, but it will take a huge amount of support and determination to get there.
The total cost of this year-long leadership program and three-week expedition to Antarctica is about AU$40,000 per participant. Of that, approximately AU$15,000 is subsidised via in-kind contributions. It's up to individual participants to cover the remaining AU$25,000. This significant investment includes travel from Australia to Ushuaia, chartering the ship, insurance and equipment. You can find a detailed breakdown of program costs here.
