Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Help us raise money so that we can provide breakfast for the children at Kolap Boun orphanage, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Currently the 50 children aged between 4 and 18 do not get breakfast.
Our goal is $18,250 which equates to $50 (AUD) a day for 50 children for one year. Breakfast for the children will be rotated between:
• Bread and pork roll or jam
• Rice porridge and dried fish
• Fried rice with vegetable and egg.
We hope that we will exceed this target so that breakfast can become an ongoing regular meal for the children and not a temporary solution.
Kolap Boun Children's Home is a government run orphanage which we visited in January 2016 as part of the Deakin Abroad Program where we spent two weeks repairing and building new play equipment, refurbishing the junior boys’ dorm, creating traffic calming measures and introducing landscaping
During our visit we found out that funding had been cut and that the children do not receive breakfast. Since returning to Melbourne we have wondered what we can do to change this. With assistance from Agile Development Group we have decided we can raise money for the junior children so that they can have breakfast.
Please note that ALL funds raised will go directly to the children’s breakfast with no money being taken out for administration costs.
