UPDATE: We've reached our initial 70K goal. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

We've reached our initial goal of $70,000!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for your donations and love over these past few months. We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our friends and community and we cannot wait to show you what you've been a part of! We are well underway in construction and aiming for our launch on 4/14. In order to make this an absolute success, we need to raise our crowd funding target to $85,000 to make this a COMPLETE makeover with new windows and doors and miscellaneous items like security cameras and milkshake machines :)! We cannot express just how blown away and thankful we are to each and every one of you. Thank you so much for your kindness and support!!

JOIN OUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION TO
CHANGE LIVES ONE SCOOP AT A TIME!

In 2002, The Father’s Heart Ministries launched Alphabet Scoop, a neighborhood-run ice cream shop in Alphabet City with a social mission. The vision was to use this for-profit store to hire and mentor underserved teens who live in the nearby public housing projects that have low graduation rates. Providing these teens with a job and life skills, in turn, gives them an opportunity to reclaim their future, one scoop at a time.

HOW IT WORKS

Alphabet Scoop is a job and life skills program for youth. The program is designed to prepare them with the skills needed to advance in their school and work endeavors.

We recruit and screen mentors to work with the trainees, offering friendship, guidance, support and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character of the mentee. We belong to the Mentoring Partnership of New York. Every time you buy our ice cream, you are helping a youth remain in a teaching and nurturing environment and off the streets.

BUT WE HAVE A PROBLEM

Alphabet Scoop has yet to be profitable and has relied on the financial support of The Father's Heart Ministries to keep the lights on.

The mission is incredible but there are three main problems:

  1. The business is undercapitalized and the store has not been properly maintained or renovated in over a decade.
  2. An undifferentiated brand limits awareness and the ability to reach a wider audience.
  3. The lack of systems has led to operational inefficiencies.

It's possible to do good and be profitable, but Alphabet Scoop needs a kickstart to reposition the business for success.

HERE'S WHAT WE ARE DOING ABOUT IT

A group of professional volunteers from various fields who are passionate about the mission has donated their time and expertise to provide a comprehensive solution to reinvigorate and re-position Alphabet Scoop for success.

The team is made up of designers, an architect, a contractor, a financial analyst, a lawyer, and project managers who are working collaboratively to implement a holistic solution.

JOIN THE MISSION!

We need $70,000 to make our solution a reality. Over the next 6 months, we will be executing our solution for the April 2018 Alphabet Scoop relaunch party.

BUT WE CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU!

Here's what it will take to set up Alphabet Scoop for long-term success.

Please donate and share NOW to help this come to life!
