Team Blue Datto
We are a kayaking team that have entered the Massive Murray Paddle which will take place from 18 - 22 November 2019. The Massive Murray Paddle is a paddling race which covers 404km’s of the Murray River over 5 days, yes that's 404km's!!! The race starts in Yarrawonga and finishes in Swan Hill.
Our team is larger than ever this year with 13 new paddlers, bringing the total to 23 paddlers tackling the mighty Murray as part of Team Blue Datto! We're also very proud to have a family representative for each of our 5 angels paddling with us in 2019.
As a condition of entry to this race we must align ourselves with a cause close to our hearts and fundraise and / or donate our time, to help the cause where it’s needed most. Our team will be supporting the Blue Datto Foundation.
Since beginning our fundraising journey, we have had the privilege of meeting Phil's parents and founders of the Blue Datto Foundation, Colleen and Joe Vassallo. Colleen and Joe will be supporting us again for the 2019 Massive Murray Paddle.
Team Blue Datto is deeply committed to raising money to help educate young drivers. We have been personally impacted by the loss of loved ones and will paddle again for the following 5 angels:
- Philip Vassallo
- Joel Murphy
- Elly Waddups
- Ceri Govier
- Jessica Eggleton.
Blue Datto Foundation
The Blue Datto Foundation was established following the tragic death of 17-year-old Philip Vassallo, who was affectionately known as ‘the kid in the Blue Datto.’ Philip lost his life in a crash in which both drivers were red ‘P’ platers. Tragically, stories like Philip’s are not uncommon in the Hawkesbury/Nepean areas and Greater Western Sydney, with more and more young lives being lost on our roads each year.

There will also be a chance to win $20,000 for a hole in one on a designated hole on the course. This hole will be advised on the day.
During the sit down lunch we will be holding raffles and silent auctions.
We would also like to run a general fundraising campaign until the completion of the Massive Murray Paddle which finishes on 22 November 2019.
All funds raised will go directly to the Blue Datto Foundation.
You can join us in making a difference!
We are aiming to raise a whopping $24,000!
These funds will go towards helping the Blue Datto Foundation achieve their goal of providing all NSW Year 10 students with the opportunity to undertake their peer based and behavioural driver education program, Keeping Safe™, by 2020.
And here’s where the funds will be invested!
Blue Datto’s mission is to change the culture of young drivers by altering attitudes and behaviours. They do this by providing an industry-leading Keeping Safe™ program to Year 10 students. This starts road safety conversations with young Australians, their families and peers at home, school, in their community and across social media. This program is delivered FREE to participants.
Sponsorship amounts are as follows:
$20 = 1 x Year 10 student participating in the Keeping Safe™ Program;
$100 = 5 x Year 10 students participating in the Keeping Safe™ Program;
$500 = 1 x Year 10 class participating in the Keeping Safe™ Program;
$2000 = 1 x Year 10 school group participating in the Keeping Safe™ Program.
