A little bit of context

Detour House Inc is a non-for-profit who run The Girls Refuge located in Leichhardt. Each year they care for over 200 girls and young women either at the refuge or in the community. The refuge has seven beds - six for girls and young women to stay up to three months and one crisis bed for overnight stays.

But there’s a problem

As you can imagine, every Dollar helps these young women in need. Many young women Detour House help are homeless or at risk of homelessness and dealing with domestic and family violence, abuse, neglect or other difficult and traumatic circumstances.

Your support can have a life changing effect on a young woman and open up opportunities she otherwise would not have had.

Here’s what we’re doing about it

For the third year in a row, a group of neighbours from Day Street in Leichhardt are taking to the stage to raise much needed money for an inner west women's refuge, but this year federal politician Anthony Albanese MP will join them in a role as DJ Albo. In a benefit that promises to be the biggest to date, the Day Street Band family friendly event will be held at 1pm at Leichhardt Bowling Club on Queen's Birthday holiday Monday, June 11.

You can join us

Can't make the show? This is your opportunity to help us help many of the young women in our community who are having a tough time. Your support will have a life changing effect on a young woman and open up opportunities she otherwise would not have had.
