Big Give is a fundraising campaign, for everyone in Central Victoria: from the Murray to the Macedon Ranges.
It’s a free online platform to support fundraising, in an infectious environment of giving – so that great stuff can happen, in our community!
Campaigns open August 1st: the earlier you start the more time you have to raise funds.
Donations can be collected each day in August or on Big Give Day September 1st when you can play BIG ( for 24 hours ), compete and win cash rewards and prizes.
If you are a not-for- profit, sports club or local community group, you can get involved by starting a campaign to raise funds for your organisation, your cause or your project. Compete, participate and amplify your donations by winning prizes from our massive prize pool.
If you are a person in the community passionate to make a difference or you just want to give back to your community, make a donation to the organisations you love participating in Big Give. Donations can be as little as $10 or as large as you want. Give where you live and help your favourite not-for-profit win cash prizes.
Big Give is an initiative of the Community Foundation for Central Victoria with lead sponsors The City of Greater Bendigo and Bendigo Stadium Ltd. Big Give is powered by Chuffed.org.
Chuffed.org is a crowdfunding platform for socially-conscious projects from around the world. We support individuals, not-for-profits, social enterprises and community groups to run awesome crowd funding campaigns and we are delighted to be working with the Community Foundation to power Big Give.
The Community Foundation for Central Victoria is a not for profit organisation dedicated to strengthening the communities of Central Victoria. We help individuals, businesses and organisations to give where we live in order to promote change by focusing on innovative and collaborative solutions to critical issues impacting the community.
The Community Foundation was founded in 2002 and over the last five years awarded over $260,000 to more than 40 local not for profit organisations and 2,500 school children across our region.
Centred in Bendigo our region stretches from the Murray to the Macedon Ranges. Every year we make grants to groups and to individuals through scholarships. In 2013 and 2014 we hosted the Glass Slipper ball raising over $100,000 for homeless youth. This year we are hosting Australia’s first Community Giving Day – Big Give as a fresh approach to engage our community in philanthropy and to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in giving.
For more information on the Community Foundation go to:
The Community Foundation and the Big Give prize sponsors are offering up to $30,000 in cash and product prizes to non profit organisations and sporting clubs participating in Big Give
Thank you once again to the generous prize sponsors that are making Big Give possible!
Community Groups, Not For Profit Organisations and Sporting Clubs (organisations) within Central Victoria are encouraged to set up their own campaign on Big Give.
We have four tests on the type of campaigns we accept. Is it for a social cause that fits into one of our eight categories (Social Enterprise, Refugees and Asylum Seekers, Health and Disability, Community, Environment, Education, Animal Welfare or Social Welfare)? Is it a 'project' that has a finite outcome? Is it run by a real person or organisation? Are the beneficiaries in the Central Victoria region?
Note that while we do accept social cause campaigns from religious organisations, we don't accept campaigns that are explicitly about promoting any particular religion.
Protest groups and political groups are not eligible to fundraise on Big Give.
Personal medical/health related campaigns are not eligible..
The Community Foundation of Central Victoria reserve the right to determine who can and cannot set up a campaign on Big Give.
If you have any queries please contact [email protected]
Everyone who uses Big Give and Chuffed.org needs to provide us with some photo identification (driver’s licence, passport or national identity card). We’ll also generally verify your details online. This is to give donors confidence that the people fundraising on Chuffed.org are real people. If you’re in Australia and choose to use our direct credit card payment system, we will also need a copy of a recent bank statement or deposit slip. This just makes sure we’re sending the money to the right place. You can black out any sensitive information, but we need to see the Account Name, BSB and Account Number.
The Community Foundation of Central Victoria covers the following area
Prizes are only awarded for donations on Big Give the 1st September
Prizes are awarded to groups in three ways:
Grand prizes prizes are awarded to groups who attract the most unique donors. Every individual who makes a minimum donation of $10 is treated as a unique donor, this is checked against name and credit card information
Grand prizes can only be calculated at the end of the day.
Power Hour Prizes are awarded to groups with the most supporters in specified hours. A supporter is any donation of any value by any individual.
The Big Give leaderboard will rank groups on the day by the number of supporters.
Big Give is all about giving. Organisations are only eligible to receive gifts during big give and cannot offer any goods or services in return for donations.
The minimum donation to Big Give is $10 but there is no maximum. Prize money will be made available to amplify charitable donations, excite non profits and donors to participate, and keep momentum going throughout the day! Whether you give $10 or $100, your donation will make a difference.
On 1st September 2016 during the event, www.thebiggive.com.au will feature a live leaderboard where organisations and donors can track the amount raised and the number of supporters for each organisation in real-time.
The number of supporters is not the same as the number of unique donors. Unique donors will only be calculated at the end of the day.
Final prize distribution may differ from leaderboard results, as all gifts are subject to eligibility verification.
No. If organisations win more than one prize they will be eligible for the one with the greatest value.
Please note that the final determination of prizes will be made at the sole discretion of The Community Foundation.
If two organisations tie for a grand prize, each organization will receive half of the prize. If two organizations tie for a Power Hour Prize, each organization will receive half of the original value of the prize.
When you Click and Give you are:
Anyone with a credit/debit card and access to the internet can donate.

96.5% of the donation that a donor makes on biggive.com.au goes straight to the not-for-profit organisation or sports club. The other 3.5% goes to the Community Foundation for Central Victoria to cover our running costs. Donors are also offered the option to contribute to Chuffed.org on top of this. Standard credit card fees are also applied which are currently 2.0%-2.9% + 30c per transaction. If that’s a bit too much maths, here’s an example:Example 1
We’ve found that when donors realise that we’re a social enterprise and what they contribute to Chuffed.org goes into supporting more great projects, they’re more than happy to throw in what they can.
Donations must be made via debit card or credit card through www.biggive.com.au powered by Chuffed.org
Donations via paypal, cheque, cash, stock, or grants will not be accepted. Gifts received directly by the nonprofit organization during the giving event do not count towards groups Big Give total or qualify organisations to win prizes.
It depends. If you are an Australian tax resident donating to an organisation in Australia that has tax-deductible (DGR) status, the donation is normally tax deductible.
Where the organisation has asked us to and has tax-deductible status, we will issue you a receipt you can use for your tax return.
No. We issue a donation receipt email and a PDF invoice to every donor on Chuffed.org. For Australian organisations, who are Deductible Gift Recipients (DGR), we can issue tax deductible receipts which meet the Australian Tax Office guidelines automatically from our system, saving you the hassle of doing so yourself.
Definitely not. Any card details you provide are processed and stored by our PCI-compliant payment partner Stripe. We do not store any of your credit card details on our servers.
The organisation to which you donate will receive your email information. This will not be passed on to the Community Foundation or Chuffed.org.
No. The Community Foundation will not enter gifts on behalf of a donor and therefore will not accept donations by phone. It's easy to give using your smart phone. Go to www.biggive.com.au and enter your own credit or debit card donation
The minimum gift is $10. Maximum gift size is only limited by your generosity and your credit/debit card issuing bank.
Our goal is to maximize participation! Certain prizes for nonprofit organizations will be awarded based on the number of unique gifts. A unique donation is defined as one online gift to one organisation from one donor. A donor may give to multiple organisations - each counts as a unique gift to each separate organisation.
Your receipt will be from the organisation to which you donate and that organisation will appear on your credit card statement.
Credit cards can be declined by your bank for many reasons. If your credit card is declined and you would like to know why, contact the bank that issued your card for details.
Donations to Big Give are non-refundable, except in specific cases of donor error. If you have discovered an error with your donation during the event, it is important to notify chuffed.org as soon as possible on [email protected]
Organisations will receive all of their Big Give donations, less the online transaction and credit card processing fee, transferred to your nominated bank account 5-15 days after your campaign finishes
Organisations will receive their Big Give prizes separately as a grant to their organisation within 30 days of Big Give.
Although each non profit will be able to see their gifts in real time, please be aware that reconciliation must be completed and, even though gifts are considered non-refundable, a donation can be revoked for a variety of reasons from the time of receipt to the time of disbursement.
Therefore, non profit donation reports cannot be considered final until the non profit receives the disbursement. As a general rule, donations through www.biggive.org.au cannot be considered final until The Community Foundation distributes the money.
Fundraisers that ONLY use unpaid volunteers and raise less than $10,000 (gross) per year do not need to be registered. If your organisation uses paid staff or raises more than $10,000 you should register with Consumer Affairs Victoria https://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/clubs-and-not-for-profits/fundraisers/registration/register-as-a-fundraiser or seek independent legal advice.
You can browse through causes set up on our campaigns page and you can search for charities by organization name, keyword, cause on the www.biggive.com.au giving day site. After searching, you can learn more about an organization's campaign by clicking on the search results. You can then click and give or continue searching.
Direct your favorite non-profit or sporting organisation to the giving day website, www.biggive.com.au. Enrolment for new organisations begins in April 2016 and ends on 31st August 2016
